When one band disintegrates, another ace one is just around the corner – a theory proved brilliantly by Sanders, Sanders and Cattermoul, formerly known as 3/5ths of Reading’s Pete & The Pirates, now working up some indie shimmers under the name Teleman.

Though (quite unbelievably) still unsigned, the trio have already been snapped up under management by Moshi Moshi (Casiokids, Egyptian Hip Hop, Florence, D/R/U/G/S etc.) and released first prepositional-confused pop single “Cristina” through MM’s Singles Club back in January, alongside of the production talent of none other than Bernard Butler. The track itselfs channels the calm indie geekery of Alt-J with a bassline torn straight from the ’60s and the unavoidably collected, bittersweet lyrics of  “Cristina’s so good, she makes me go across town, she makes me to lie down, there’s nothing in the way now” – not the most likely singalong refrain, but it will remain ingrained in your brain for some time and gained them some rightful acclaim to the clever music world.

In between then and now they’ve appeared at Glastonbury, headlined The Sebright Arms and released an even better follow up single named “Steam Train Girl“. With Butler at the helm once again, the group create an effortless blend of swirling synthlines, eccentricly robot-tinged vocals and  knife-edged bass that’s got 6music and the likes raving. It’s a breakthrough track as incredible as countless “big name” others and is just waiting for the rest of the world to catch on.

Teleman are set to take their spellbinding work to Latitude, Tramlines and countless other UK festivals over the coming months before embarking on a mammoth Autumn trail of Europe at the request of Suede -which seems a pretty good deal – and, if we’re lucky, 2014 may bring one of the finest debuts in quite a while.
