PJ Harvey

London’s Field Day Festival has today (26th November) announced the first wave of acts set to play next year’s two day event.

Taking place on the weekend of the 11th and 12th June 2016, Field Day will be celebrating 10 years of existence in 2016, and are pulling out all the stops to make the weekend as special as possible. Since the festival’s inception in 2007, the line-ups have featured some of the most exciting new acts as well as a multitude of highly worshipped icons. 2016 will be no exception, with PJ Harvey and Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore listed amongst the first batch of names.

PJ Harvey’s headline slot will be her first UK full band show since 2011’s Royal Albert Hall performance. She is currently working on her ninth album – a follow-up to ‘Let England Shake’, the release that made her the only artist to win the Mercury Prize for a second time.

Grime favourite Skepta is set to make an appearance on the first day of the festival, alongside London duo Mount Kimbie, Rough Trade rising star SOAK, and indie rockers Deerhunter. Elsewhere the US dream pop outfit Wild Nothing and Trevor Powers aka Youth Lagoon are set to draw big crowds at Victoria Park.

Sunday’s festivities will see the likes of John Grant, Swedish psych group GOAT, and Ben Watt featuring Bernard Butler all appearing across Field Day’s many stages. Baltimore duo Beach House will also be performing.

Tom Baker, Field Day’s founder, has commented on the first announcement, saying “10 years… amazing. Can’t believe how the time has flown. A mind bending travel in time and so much great music, it’s hard to pinpoint a favourite moment as there are just so many… I’m thrilled that this year the iconic PJ Harvey, someone I’ve been a huge fan for many years, will come and headline the Sunday.  Saturday brings us another fantastic diverse mix of incredible music from Four Tet to Skepta, Floating Points who’s playing Live, to Orchestra Baobab, Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band and of course loads more…”
