Following Beady Eye’s split in 2014, Liam Gallagher is back with a bang on his brand new single, ‘Wall of Glass’. The track is taken from his debut solo album, ‘As You Were’, released later this year. It’s a triumphant return, full of attitude and funky anthemic production from Greg Kurstin (Adele, Beck, Sia).

The bluesy guitar and harmonica sees Gallagher bring on a soulful, poppy element to this track, coupled with his trademark nasally vocals. He may have mellowed slightly over time, but the venom is still there: “You were sold the one direction / And I believe the resurrection’s on, and you were wrong”. Gallagher has admitted in the past that he can’t write choruses, however the hook in this track, accompanied by a gospel choir, is superb and well constructed.

‘Wall of Glass’ is a strong return, showing that Liam Gallagher has nothing to prove. With a new album on the way, he’s breaking the mould and crafting his own style, with a confident swagger along the way.
