Disco Naivete recently premiered the video for new B L O O M track ‘Lords’, due for release (on cassette tape, no less!) on 18th February. Manchester’s hottest prospects have already turned heads with previous video ‘Schizophrenia’ which delights and disturbs in equal measure, and this trend continues with ‘Lords’.

Like ‘Schizophrenia’, the video for ‘Lords’ is directed by Nick Delap of Egyptian Hip Hop, and the result is sinister B-Movie-esque horror scenes and subliminal flickerings to match the primal drums and stabbing guitars. As desperate vocals wail “there’s a devil inside my head” you can well believe it, such are the tortured sounds of the track and the effect of such well-considered pacing and textures. The message of both the track and the video is that ‘something isn’t quite right’, and by the time the 4 minutes and 15 seconds are up, this message has been well and truly delivered.

SWAYS Records are doing much to help nurture a burgeoning crop of bands in Manchester, with Naked On Drugs and G R E A T W A V E S on the label as well as B L O O M, and this debut release is particularly exciting. And never fear: if you no longer own a cassette player, the tape comes with a digital download of the single. Check out the video for ‘Lords’ below.
